Grab your local SIM card directly at the airport right after you exit customs.
Do yourself a massive favor and insist that your driver takes the Nairobi Expressway into town. Nairobi’s standard Mombasa Road traffic is notorious and can easily turn a 25-minute drive into a grueling 2-hour crawl. The Expressway toll is added directly to your digital ride bill (like Uber) or can be paid in cash. It costs just a few hundred Kenyan Shillings and saves you immense time and frustration right after a long flight.
Be prepared to firmly but politely decline the aggressive taxi touts inside and immediately outside the terminal hall.
